Question : URGENT!! last night every time I would fall asleep I would wake up in a totally confused disoriented mind state and a scared for my life feeling this happened about 30 times last night! I wake up completely panicked and my brain would feel numb and a sort of cramping feeling. I suffered from body tremors at night when I would fall asleep that would wake me up and would last a few minutes but they seem to be going away a little bit but now this sleep disturbance has taken its place I had two EEGs that came back abnormal the doctors do not think it's seizure related but don't know for sure. Please help any information would be much appreciated

Seizures and anxiety disorder should be evaluated further.

I have read your query and understand your concerns.

Seizures and stress disorder should be evaluated further as possible causes of your concerns.

Just a simple EEG is not sufficient in certain cases to diagnose seizures, so there is need for further examinations to be certain that seizures are not the cause of your symptoms.

Further tests include EEG with video recording, brain MRI and sleep study.

If these tests fail to reveal the diagnosis, then anxiety and stress disorder should be considered as a possible cause of your symptoms.

In mean time, treatment should be stated, both for seizures and stress disorder.

One of the drugs that may be used in such cases is valproate.

I suggest you to discuss with your Neurologist about these issues, since they are prescription drug and tests.
