Brief Answer:
It is normal

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for posting on healthcaremagic. I have gone through the details and let me assure you that passing stool 6-10 times per day is absolutely normal for a child of this age as is passing stool once in 10 days. In either case there is absolutely nothing to worry, more so if the baby is exclusively breast fed. There is a phenomenon called gastrocolic reflex which may make your child pass stool after each feed and it is normal too.

If you feel that the stool frequency is increased, you need to give the child Oral Rehydration Solution or ORS which can be prepared by mixing a full XXXXXXX into the designated amount of water (200ml or 1 litre depending upon the size of the packet). The main concern would be to keep the hydration maintained by replenishing for the salts and water lost. If the child is exclusively breast fed, breast milk is a better alternative and needs to be given at an increased frequency. That is all you need to do. No medicines are required.
