Question : hi my 18 year old son has a sore throat culture came back negative , his entire left side of his throat is swollen he's in a lot of pain

Hello,

Based on his symptoms I suggest doing a neck ultrasound to see for lymphadenopathy, a full blood count, and to do serology for EBV IgM, IgG (mononucleosis), CMV serology IgM, IgG.
Do meet an ENT specialist during this time?
