Suggest Treatment For Severe Abdominal Pain And Vomiting

default
Posted on Wed, 22 Jun 2016
Question: Once last week and again today I have had three hours of horrific (like knives in my stomach) pain. After 3 or so hours of pain I started vomiting -- just waterish brown liquid, quarts of it. And then it was over. Any ideas of a diagnosis -- it's happened twice.

Brief Answer:
Where is the pain located and any similarities between diets?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this pain and vomiting episodes. I understand your concerns and have reviewed your information fully. This could be related to an allergy or food intolerance. I suggest you review the content of your meals on these days to see what similarities existed as that may be the most likely cause of your symptoms. Also, where precisely was this pain located?

Given the transient nature and complete resolution, this is unlikely to be a specific ongoing disease process or a disease itself. Should this persist, further investigations will make the clear difference about it.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Above all, thanks for using our services.

The pain is in my stomach (food cavity) halfway between the chest and pelvis. During the first incident I vomited three hours after eating and vomited up the food. The second incident involved no food because I had eaten 12 hours prior to onset. I have had flu shots and have never had allergies to food. Is it possible to develop an allergy at 64 years of age? We live in a retirement community so a number of other people ate the same food. We checked and no one else was sick. The pre-vomiting pain was so horrific that I thought it could be an ulcer. Does vomiting accompany ulcers?

Brief Answer:
Yes, vomiting can accompany stomach ulcers or disease!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this follow up information.

This might represent stomach problems which could range for inflammation to ulcers. I will suggest we try you anti ulcer medications to see if this makes a difference. Most often, I use omeprazole 20mg daily. Let me know how this plays out.

I wish you well.
