Suggest Treatment For Severe Abdominal Pain Caused By Gastritis

Posted on Mon, 25 Jul 2016
Question: Last night I experienced severe stomach pains. I have an ulcer in my esophagus, the pain was at the very top of my stomach and was very sharp. I was sweating, goose bumps and nearly vomiting from it. It continued for almost an hour and I chewed an antacid and drank some milk and it magically eased. Could this have been from the ulcer? Why would I experience severe pain like this after having this ulcer for about 15 years with no pain and I can't think of any changes that I have made recently to my diet?

Brief Answer:
This could have been from gastritis or gastric ulcers.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
Read the history carefully.
You had ulcer in the esophagus 15 years ago which might have been healed long ago.
The recent attack of severe stomach pain which got relieved with antacid and milk indicate that the problem could have been due to gastritis or gastric ulcer.
As you must have known, this can be detected by an upper GI endoscopy alone.
Hence I would advise you to take an earliest appointment for the same.
Take a PPI like Omeprazole
Antacid every three hourly.
Soft bland diet.
4 equal food requirement distribution.
No stress and/ or anxiety.

I hope this answers your query.

I just read some articles on gastritis and gastric ulcers. I do take a lot of Ibuprofen for migraine headaches. I will do as you prescribed. Tomorrow I will call and make an appointment. Thank you for your help
