Question: I have come and go pain in stomach area, sometimes severe, always in same spot. Not sure what that spot is, but too low for heartburn I think. But acid reducers help. Could I have an ulcer?

Brief Answer:
It can be ulcer or simply acid peptic disease like non ulcer dyspepsia

Detailed Answer:
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist.

Yes it can be ulcer or simply acid peptic disease especially when it is reduced by acid reducer like zantac.

I will like to advise you to avoid tea, coffee, oily and spicy food. Also avoid citrus fruits. Among medications take a proton pump inhibitor like rabeprazole and a prokinetic agent like domperidone for 4 weeks. Proton pump inhibitor are better than Zantac.

However if still pain persist may undergo endoscopy examination and ultrasound abdomen to see for other cause origination from organs like gallbladder, liver or pancreas.
.

I hope I have answered your query and this will help you . Wish you a good health
