Question : Hi , this is about my Mother who is 63 years of age and recently experiencing some gas formation with some weird sound in her stomach after having food. I consulted with doctor he suggested some tablets like Sporolac and Nexpro, with that she got relief but still she feels some mild gas formation but not like earlier. We also have tested sugar, thyroid, blood pressure, all test are normal. Could you please suggest some remedy? thanks

The gaseous distension and feeling of stomach upset in elderly ladies can be due to acid peptic disease, duodenal ulcers or H Pylori infection, gall stone or at times irritable bowel syndrome.

The medicines you have started to her work by decreasing acid output. They provide nearly full relief in first two possibilities but only partial relief in the latter.

Ideally she should undergo an Upper GI Endoscopy and biopsy if needed and then consult a gastroenterologist or a physician with reports.

Treatment regimen are many and have good success rate.
