Question : I am having moderate to severe joint pain on both ankles. I believe it is my achiles heel. I went to the Dr. and she thought it may have been brought on by a recent med change, a statin. She took me off the statin on Monday, and advised to call her in 2 weeks to see if it was better. So far, no change. I have great difficulty in walking.

Brief Answer:
I need a little more detail of the illness

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case. Statin causes myopathy and joint pain but their effects lasts for more then three months after stopping them. But before I advised you any further I would like to see little detail of the illness.
1.Since when you are having this pain?
2.Is it on rest or walking?
3. Are you obese or Diabetic?
4.Do you have pain at back side of ankle or all around?
Please send me answers of these questions. I will try my best to help you.

What is the cause of this? Where would I find "Hugh heel shoes?" What is hot water fomentation? If I follow these recommendations, how long approximately should it be before I see relief?

Brief Answer:
Need at least 15 to 30 days

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Cause of this disease in usually tendinopathy. There is collection of fluid in Achilles tendon due to overuse, prolong standing. Some time there can be no obvious cause. This treatment needs to continue for long time, at least 6 months. Because tendon problems takes time in healing and there is high chances of recurrence. Though you will feel relief after 15 days.
High heel shoes are available at any shoe store. at least half inch heel.
Hot water ( gentle warm ) should be filled in bucket and keep your feet for half an hour in it twice daily.
thanks
