Posted on Fri, 2 Jun 2017
Question: I have bad pain at night only from the bottom of me feet to the anklse, My big toes cramp up.
oWhen I stand up it goes away slowly, My podiatrist had me on a prescripton CICLOPIROX OLCAMINE CREAM. After I called the office and he told my feet were burning and red, he told the girl to tell me to keep using it. I did not. Ever since that my feet were burning at night and the pains were hard to take. They went away and now they are back again. I am not a diabetic, I told my doctor about it and he said possibly restless leg syndrome. Does that indicate severe pain and I have this the rest of my life. I am 80 years old. Someone suggested to me a test of the veins in my leg. Thank You.

Brief Answer:
Problem due to nerve

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query on Healthcare magic

I do understand your concern

“As” per your clinical history is concerned it si due to compression of nerve so you need a physical examination by your local surgical specialist to confirm the diagnosis.so he may advise you medications like steroid and local anesthetics and you need exercise plan by a physiotherapist. If conservative treatment does not give you good result then you can discuss about surgical treatment with your doctor.

You can do few things at home which may help-

1)Diet:- Increase your intake of essential fatty acids. Eat fish, nuts, flaxseed oil and avocados. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables, quality protein sources, organic dairy products and simple sugars. Staying hydrated is very important to help treat burning feet as lack of sufficient fluids can cause circulatory sluggishness and decrease the rise in body temperature.

2)Comfortable Shoes:- Wear shoes that don’t compress your feet and slow circulation. Make sure you have footwear that has supports your arches well and most importantly your shoes should be comfortable.

3)Health Issues:- Get yourself checked for liver or kidney problems. Both disorders can affect circulation and increase heat in the body. Also, get your blood sugar and thyroid levels checked.

4)Hydrotherapy:- Soak your feet in cold (not icy) water for 15 minutes. This will help provide relief to the pain.or Mix 1 tablespoon of cayenne pepper in ¼ cup of warm olive oil. Apply it on the painful area and allow it to sit for 20 minutes. Rinse it off with warm water. Repeat 3 times daily until the pain is gone.

5)Elevation:- After a day’s work or even at work, try to lay on the floor or the couch with your feet raised. Use cushions to elevate your feet, keeping them above the level of your heart for about 15 minutes. This will help in clearing the congestion of blood pooling in the feet due to gravity, during the day.

6)Lifestyle Changes:- Apart from your diet, avoid smoking and drinking alcohol. Start gentle exercises and activities that you like doing.

7)Vitamins:-You can take regular multivitamins orally and vitamins like B-12 in injectable.

Hope that helps
