Question : I have taken some advice and have upped my medication (citalipram) from 10mg a day to 20 mg a day. This took place last week.

For the first couple days i had a great sleep and felt much better. Its been about a week now and i have the same symptoms come back, perhaps even worse.

Hard to concentrate
Tired
Anxiety - more
Fighting depression thoughout the day.

I have been on this medication for about 10 years.

My questions:

1. How long should I give the new dosage to work.

2. If it doesnt get any better should i try a different med?

3. If i try a different med, what is the least addictive antidepressent and anxiety medication with the least side effects.

Thank you.

Hello, and thanks for your question.

1. 4 weeks
2. No, if after 4 weeks you are not seeing improvement, you should increase to 30mg daily and wait another 4 weeks, not switch to a new medication
3. See #2
