Question : I took 10 mg of buspar on advice of my doctorand had heart palpitations, whereas had none on 5 mg - is this normal when first upping the dose?

Yes its a common side effect

Buspirone is an anxiolytic psychotropic drug.Palpitation is a very common side effect of this drug.The dose of this drug is increased gradually over weeks.
As per you question yes on increasing the dose some adverse effect like palpitation may come in picture for some days.
Don't panic as the body will adapt to the new dose palpitations will go away.
