Suggest Treatment For Severe Anxiety While On Xanax

Question: I have Xanax that was issued in 2012. I am currently in a very high anxiety situation and cannot get a hold of my surgeon (out of her office). My PC won't help since it's the surgeon's problem. Getting deperate. Is the Xanax still effective?

I can understand your concerns.

Xanax issued in 2012 might not be that effective. You might need to take higher dose than usual.
I would still suggest you to start with a minimal dose as prescribed to you earlier.

Dose can be increased gradually.

Avoid driving and heavy machinery work.
Contact your doctor as soon as he returns.

If xanax does not work for you, you can take benadryl (OTC).

Thank you so much Dr. Mehta. There usually isn't much that I get anxious about, but this situation has thrown me for a loop. The Xanax is actually my neighbor's that was given to her for an anxiety problem in 2012. If it helps me get through this situation, I'm all for it!

Will Xanex help with sleep... I have gotten from 0 hours to 5 hours sleep for the past 4 nights.
