Question: Hi! I have issue that is hard to describe but I feel bad and also starting to get anxciety. I have issue on right side of my face and head. First it feel like something is stuck in the corner of my eye but nothing is there.. I feel constantly something borthering me in there. Second I have weird pressure and occasional tingling in my upper cheekbone, that side of nose, side of face and temple. Face on the side of eye feel pressured all the time. Also occasionally I feel pressure on neck the same side but its not as major as other feelings. I do have also occasional twitching. Most problematic is pressure in cheekbone and side of face and eye. I have no runny nose, no fever, no vision problems. Eye does burn a lot when using eye drops. I also should mention that all my teeth are pulled out from that side upper teeth but they seem nicely healed. I do feel though occasionally that I still have aching tooth there. Please help as this makes me feel so bad, also the pressure and tingling seems stronger after exercising.

Brief Answer:
This could be anxiety if organic causes are ruled out.

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM

I can understand your concern. The symptoms like pressure like feeling on one side of face, feeling that something in stuck in your right eye when nothing is there, tingling in cheek bone, pressure in neck along with twitching etc are not related to each other and even can occur due to anxiety. Sometimes anxiety results in anticipation and individuals become aware to even mildest of symptoms and becomes more anxious.

But you have mentioned that your teeth on that side are pulsed out so at least a dental referral should be sought. Dentist will rule out any organic cause. If that comes normal then most likely cause of your symptoms is anxiety.

For pain, pressure like sensation and heaviness in head drugs like SNRIs can help. Duloxetine or Venlafaxine can help to treat these symptoms and will relieve the pressure like symptoms and tingling. You can talk with a doctor for these drugs.

Worsening of symptoms after exercise also supports the anxiety as cause.

Thanks. You are welcome to ask again for more doubts.

Thank you doc. Well anxiety comes from the symptoms. But yes I have had some stressful periods and I do have occasional problems with panic attacks. This seems so different though. It has lasted about 4 days now and occasionally does make me dizzy and feel drained. The pins and needles come and go and the pressure beside face is there almost all the time. I just feel off. Can it really be anxiety?
The teeth have been taken out by docs not coming out themselves but I do know I have more dental issues. What is the possibility it being sinus pressure without runny nose or even worse brain cancer? Well my congnitive skills still the same, my balance ok and face doesn't seem distorted, just this tingling and needles and pressure makes me feel so bad and stressed.

Brief Answer:
Most probably this is anxiety.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again

Yes pin needle sensations and other symptoms you are seeing are commonly seen in anxiety.

No if it was sinus pressure it would have resulted in rhinitis like symptoms or blocking of nose. Still if you have doubt then you can get X-ray done which will rule out any opacity in sinuses.

Its definitely not brain tumour or cancer. Brain cancer presents with other common symptoms like severe headache, sweating, focal or sometimes generalised seizures. These symptoms are not seen in brain tumour.

The symptoms are resulting in stress and stress is worsening the symptoms. This vicious cycle is resulting in anxiety most probably. So please talk to your doctor and if possible consult a psychiatrist.

Thanks.
