Question : 18year old granddaughter severe back pain, left side, throwing up, pain has moved to the front of her body.
Brief Answer:
It is acute abdomen
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
I have studied your case. I think she might have one of following conditions.
1.Acute appendicitis
2.Stone in Kidney or urine infection.
3.Ovarian cyst
In all these condition there can be acute pain and such symptoms. So I would suggest you to go to ER as soon as possible. She might need to get ultrasound of the abdomen to confirm the diagnosis. Till then you can try following.
1.Tablet Brufen for pain and Pan D for vomiting.
2.Tablet Cyclopam for pain .
I hope these steps will be helpful for you.let me know if their is any other followup questions.
thanks

Thanks. When I talked to my daughter, I told her I thought this was pretty serious and to call a doctor and to see if her brother could take them to the ER. I can't drive at night, my daughter can't drive at all (just had eye surgery), so we are sort of handicapped. Well, not just sort of. I wanted let you know that her brother took them to the ER. Your response was helpful because it tells me that my instincts are good. I thought of appendicitis, and her kidney crossed my mind. Will let you know what it is, when I find out. Thank you

It's a 9 cm ovarian cyst. They sent her home with dialuadid(sp?)and nausea medication and the name of an OBGYN to call. My daughter made the earliest apt with him that she could -- 7/11. Good diagnosis on your part.
By the way, I am a public defender and I have a co-worker whose last name is XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Ovarian cyst may need aspiration
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
It is good that you took her to emergency immediately. Some time these things can cause severe emergency. If her Gynaecologist thinks then this cyst may need aspiration. Any way it is not an emergency like appendicitis. Please review this answer.
Thanks
