Brief Answer:
Need to carry following suggestive treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.

Thanks for writing to us. I am happy to help you.

1) In THIRD trimester, low back pain is quite common due to presence of RELAXIN hormone, causing relaxation of pelvic ligaments and joints.

2) Growing and enlarged uterus, position of fetus, continuous weight gain, muscle spasm and change in posture are some associated factors for back pain. Sciatica and urinary tract infection should be ruled out.

3) TREATMENT:
a) Do gentle exercise (like walking, stretching) and light massage on back to relieve stiffness and pain. Don't sit or stand in one place for long time. Side bending is helpful.

b) Use plenty of pillows in bed for support, keeping her thighs parallel. It prevents top leg from twisting across body into the recovery position while sleeping.

c) A warm water bottle or hot bag compression may help. Soak a cloth in warm water that contains 2-3 drops of essential or lavender oil and place it on the small of her back.

d) Take adequate bed rest, preferably 8-10 hrs in divided schedule and preferably in left lateral position. Avoid heavy work, shopping or strenuous activity.

e) When you will get out of bed, roll on to one side and push yourself up to a sitting position, swing your legs over the side of the bed, then slowly stand up.

f) Pregnancy support belts and prenatal cradles take the weight of the growing baby away from the back and abdominal muscles. They are very helpful in this condition and decrease back pain.

g) Wear only low-heeled but not flat shoes. Muscle relaxant gel and DUVADILAN (prescribed medicine) can be used after consultation with your treating doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Wish her good health and take care.
