Posted on Wed, 18 Nov 2015
Question: Hi. I'm suffering from back pain. It's debilitating. I have a constant pain on my very low back almost where my buttocks start. It's all across. When I stand sometimes my legs feel numb like they're going to give out. When I sit the pain is in my mid to upper back.
I also feel like it's putting pressure on my rectum.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Pinched nerve disc prolapse

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

Thanks for the query.

It appears that you are having severe compression of the nerves that travel from your bank to the legs. This can occur due to various causes, commonly a slipped disc.

It is advisable to get Xray, MRI of your Lumbosacral spine to look for the compression of your nerve roots.

Avoid bending forwards or lifting weights.

Apply hot water bag. Take pain killer and muscle relaxant like Tablet Diclofenac and Thicolchicoside combination twice a day for 5 days after meals. Drink plenty of water. Eat healthy.

This requires urgent intervention or you may suffer risk of further damage to your nerves.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Brief Answer:
Yes. Xray so help but MRI also needed

Detailed Answer:
Yes. In some cases of slipping of the vertebrae due to degenerative changes, an Xray will help to diagnose. MRI is very important as well to see the level and amount of compression to decide the right treatment.
