Question : Have had acid reflux symptoms for the past week: belching, bloaty feeling,etc. I do have reflux from time to time. Also have had a sore achiness in my sternum area and when I belch I get a slight sore (like a muscle strain) ache in the area of my right breast. Lasts for a few seconds. Sometimes its a delayed response a second or two after I burp. I have no discomfort at all when I press around that area..its fine...just when I belch. Also have an upper back ache (feels like when you get a cold in your back. Have been applying heat to both chest and back...it helps....otherwise I feel fine. Have been taking Pepcid for a week thinking about switching to PPIs.Ive had a couple of strong acid reflux experiences in the past with chest pain etc. with hospital care on one occasion. Could this all be acid reflux related again? Thanks. XXXXXX

Hello,
Yes, Your symptoms seem to be due to reflux.
PPIs would help.
I would suggest you take omeprazole and continue it for at least 4 Weeks.
In the mean time avoid carbonated drinks , citrus fruits, chocolate and mint, alcohol and deep fried foods. Avoid lying down for at least 3 hours after meals
