Question: Suffering with severe chronic cough for almost 2 months with recurring cold, sore throat and mild fevers in between.
Any small talk, climbing staircase and even a little loud laughter is continued by cough. Sometimes the cough is with phlegm, and sometimes dry. Phlegm is usually present when I've slight cold also. Continuous cough at night, especially in lying position, sometimes accompanied by vomiting of food. Sometimes, all of a sudden irritation in throat or chest continued by very long spells of violent dry cough or with very little phlegm. These are the symptoms I am suffering from last 2 months and such long cough cold problems have become frequent in the past 2 years. I,m 35 and obese female.
From childhood, I have problem of frequent colds, coughs, throat infections, eosinophilia. At the age of 15, I was affected by TB of bones in chest area which was successfully cured. I had to quit teaching in my 20s because of very frequent throat infections.

Snoring/ wheezing sounds (which are normally seen in children with cold/cough) are also there both during inhaling and exhaling. These breathing sounds have reduced a lot but not completely after I've taken the medicines mentioned previously. When I'm in normal healthy condition, I do not snore.

Brief Answer:
Get done PFT first.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of asthma and allergic rhinitis is more.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system, chest x ray (to rule out reactivation tuberculosis) and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
PFT is must for the diagnosis of asthma. It will also tell you about severity of the disease and treatment of asthma is based on severity only.
So get done PFT.
You may need inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid(ICS). Intranasal spray containing steroid is also useful for sneezing.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
