Suggest Treatment For Severe Cold And Cough
Question: My husband has been suffering from severe cold and Cough
Symptoms:
1. Cough with phlegm
2. Stuffy nose
3. Slight fever -100
4. Feels Cold at times.
He has sinus problem and he smokes profusely.

Hi,
Based on the details provided, I presume these symptoms are fairly recent in onset say a few days old. In such cases these are acute infective episode which generally settles down in few days. I would suggest using paracetamol, antihistamines and expectorant.
1. Tab Dolo 650mg thrice daily for 3 days
2. Tab Cetrizine 10mg at night for 3 days
3. Syp Ascoril 1tsp twice daily for 3 days
In addition, he needs regular steam inhalation atleast 4-5 times a day; plenty of fluids and adequate rest.
Smoking may not be related to the present problem. However yes it has its long term implications that are quite serious. It is best that you advice him against smoking and make him quit at the earliest.
