Question: My 17 year old daughter has been dealing with constipation, 2-3 periods a month , even on various birth control pills, and her hair is thinning for 3 years. We have been to a family doctor, GI doctor, endocrinologist, gynecologist, and No one can figure out anything. She's had blood work many times, a colonoscopy at 16 and tried various prescribed medicines. Her stomach is so bloated. She's a very active young lady and is miserable

Possibilities

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I'll be honest, many of these symptoms sound to me like HYPOTHYROID. You've stated that you've seen many physicians, can you be sure that they've ruled out HYPOTHYROID DISORDER, or Hashimotos Disease? Other possibilities are nutritional deficiencies. I realize it is a fickle way to respond with such a question, however hearing that such specialist before me have done a work up without any answer;

I must make sure. I will say that Psychogenics, that is "Stress" the "psychology" of individuals can occasionally perform what can seem to be miraculous, and unfortunate responses in the physical human body. I must ask; is she stressed, is she depressed, is your daughter a happy woman; or in regards to her emotionals and or psychology; does she, or has she ever sought aid? I hope these words can lead us working together to find an answer. Like I said; as many physicians have come before me; I'll not assume to have a definitive answer off the bat; but I am willing to work with you on this case.

All the best.

This was her last thyroid test that the endocrinologist did. Thyroid issues also run in our family.

Brief Answer:
Thyroid Possibilities

Detailed Answer:
Perhaps a second opinion would be best. And what of the Psychological issues? I would also address entirety of your daughters medications and or diet as to ensure there are no side effects and or dietary deficiencies. I would be very interested in discovering these exam results and see for myself. '

Unfortunately Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulin is not a very useful test in regards to an all encompassing look at the thyroid; as it does not indicate to me the level at which the thyroid gland is working; and or whether there are any thyroid deficiencies within your daughters blood stream. Were there any other thyroid results?

Warm Regards.
