Suggest Treatment For Severe Cough And Post Nasal Drip

avoiding allergen, antihistamine/decongestant combination, nasal spray
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
Post nasal drips can be very annoying especially if severe and they are the most common cause of a persistent cough.
I had a patient whose allergy tests showed that hers were likely provoked by banana.
Treatment involves: (1) avoiding the provoking cause if it is known. This can be anything- food/drink, dust, pollen, animal dander, perfumes and other odors.
Avoiding the allergen is key
Allergy testing can help you determine the specific cause if it is not known.
(2)anti histamines/decongestant combination. It is quite possible you are already using these types of meds.
They need to be used consistently. Examples include benadryl d, allergra d, claritine d, zyrtec d
(3)topical steroid nasal sprays such as nasonex, nasocort, flonase, rhinocort. A prescription may be needed to get one of these
(4)medications such as montelukast and/or ketotifen can be used if the above medications do not work.
These medications work at different parts of the allergic response--- antihistamines block histamine but these meds block other chemicals that play a role in cause the symptoms
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
