Question : I have always had regular like clockwork periods every 28 days. At the end of September (think the 29) I was given a shot if Kenalog 60 to treat a cough that would not go away (we had excessive smoke from first fires all summer and fall). The Kenalog did not help. On October 9th I was given a 10 day course of oral prednisone. On the 15th my period started (one week early!!) preceded by tender enlarged breasts. That went away after the period started. The period lasted for ten days. I was given a Z-Pak on the 18 October which finally got rid of the cough! The orioles came back on the 22nd and it’s now the 26 still bleeding - not a ton but alternated b/t darker and bright red. Can all the medicines combined screw up my cycle??
Brief Answer:
Can be due to medicines and mild hormonal disturbance.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The use of medicines can alter the blood flow or the cycle length. This can be due to mild hormonal disturbance also. No need to worry. This most likely will stop on its own in next few days. in case the bleeding is heavy or persistent then you can consider having oral contraceptive pills for 1-2 cycles.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
