Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I have gone through your query and I have understood your concern.

Seborrheic dermatitis Or dandruff is a fairly common concern in the general population and worsens in winters. Seborrheic dermatitis is also associated with itching & increased hair shedding.

If I was the treating doctor I would suggest you to use one of the medicated antidandruff shampoos e.g a coal tar+salicylic acid based shampoo (e.g Protar lotion). Coal tar is antiinflammatory and antiproliferative and therefore reduces scale formation, whereas salicylic acid is keratolytic and therefore also helps to exfoliate existing scale. You may shampoo, every alternate days.

In addition to that, I also suggest my patients to use a topical steroid lotion e.g clobetasol propionate 0.05% with or without salicylic acid 3%, in a lotion base, once daily at night. Topical steroids are rapidly effective in reducing the inflammation as well as itching and scaling that usually accompanies seborrheic dermatitis.

These are prescription medications and I suggest that you visit a doctor in your vicinity for the needful.

Regards
