Suggest Treatment For Severe Diarrhea While On Cipro

default
Posted on Fri, 5 May 2017
Question: Can older adults with frequent urinary problems develop more severe problems from taking pedialyte? I have had a UTI for a couple of weeks and was on cipro. It gave me severe diarrhea and I was switched to ceftin. I improved over several days but after switching to ceftin continued to grow weaker by the day though diarrhea lessened. I took pedialyte (my decision without consulting physician) I suddenly developed greater urinary urgency. Have been on catheterization for three weeks. Last night urge to urinate increased greatly and had to XXXXXXX during the night. What is going on? I have an appointment with my urologist tomorrow morning.

Brief Answer:
Your basic problem is UTI secondary to Enlarged Prostate

Detailed Answer:
hello
Thanks for query .

Increased frequency for urination and urgency are typical symptoms of UTI secondary to enlarged prostate which is very common at this age .

You need to qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Serum PSA.

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis
as regards size of the prostate ,post void residual urine (PVR) and your general condition.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
