Question : My stepfather who is 90 is dizzy and sweating. He has type 2 diabetes. Also heart issues. He has been to Dr twice for these symptoms and admitted but they never find anything.

His symptoms could be related to the changes in blood sugar.

I would recommend to closely check his blood sugar levels (fasting glucose and postprandial).

If episodes of hypoglycemia are excluded, I would recommend performing further tests to investigate for the possible underlying causes:

- a cardiac ultrasound
- an ambulatory 24-48 hours ECG monitoring to investigate for cardiac arrhythmia
- Doppler ultrasound of the cervical arteries to investigate for possible low blood perfusion to the brain
- thyroid hormone levels for possible imbalance.

You should discuss with his doctor on the above issues.
