Suggest Treatment For Severe Ear Pain And Headache
Around a week in, I had mild jaw irritation and pain, ear pain, and around 2 weeks in I started to develop headaches that may or may not be related directly to this isolated event.
I have spoken to my GP only about my jaw pain (I had not had onset of headaches). And doctors have said I may have developed PTSD and my symptoms could be related to post-concussion syndrome.
Unfortunately, I am back to university and may find it difficult to arrange an appointment with a GP at my university medical centre as I might not have the time and energy. I have a packed schedule. I have been able to work and functionally normally over the holidays at present.
I have headaches on and off and they are either tension based or cluster and occasionally around the eye. Paracetamol does not work but ibuprofen being stronger does work.
My plan is to wait it out, should I be worried?
No worries, supportive care
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question and i understand your concern. Symptoms of headache and peri orbital pain , jaw irritation and ear pain followed by a punch in the area is likely an inflammatory pain which is being felt more than usual because of PTSD features and yes even small assault can cause PTSD. Even if it is post concussion syndrome, with no memory loss, no unconsciousness episodes and 4 weeks already passed, danger is over and there is nothing left to worry about and all it needs is supportive care and pain management.
The thing is, if you are working and functioning just fine and there is no neurological deficit in last 4 weeks since the assault then there is nothing to worry about.
All you need to do is take supportive care with pain killers which ever works for you, ibuprofen is fine. Use hot compresses over the pain area, take some anxiolytic like xanax to relax and and your plan of waiting and seeing is the best one, I reassure you there is nothing to worry about and you are already on phase of recovery and you soon will be headache free and pain free in a week or two.
I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
