Question : I took 4 doses of extra strength Tylenol (2 capsules=1,000 mg) making it 4,000 mg within 24 hours, which is the safety limit written on the label, so I wasn't worried, however, since taking my last dose almost two hours ago, I have felt fatigue, I've been really queasy and nauseous even a little dizzy and I've felt a discomfort in my upper right side of my stomach. Since I haven't taken enough to reach toxic levels, should I still head to the hospital or should I just sleep it off? Since I'm abroad right now without health insurance, I would like to be sure a trip to the hospital is warranted.
Brief Answer:
I will not recommend a trip to the hospital now!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have reviewed your information fully and the safety recommendations about Tylenol. There is no impending danger at this time and you need not go to the emergency unit. Your knowledge of the possible toxicity of this drug would also make any small changes more noticeable than before. In all, there is no need going to the hospital now.
I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
