Suggest Treatment For Severe Flu

Posted on Tue, 20 Oct 2015
Question: hello, I'm the girlfriend of someone who I think has a very serious flu, he has been having aches, about 102.68(it was down to 101.38 yesterday) in fevers, hard to talk to sometimes, difficulty breathing, and swallowing. Fluids seems to not be absorbed by body, even with gatorade/Powerade. Has been taking Theraflu, but is getting sick to the stomach from it so he can't take anymore of it.

Brief Answer:
May be a bacterial infection. May need antibiotics.

Detailed Answer:
Hi xxxxxxx,

I have read the question and I understand your concerns.

It is possible that your boyfriend has a bacterial infection because he has a high fever. I recommend that you take him to see a doctor to get his complete blood counts done.

If there is a raised count of Neutrophils, then he may have a bacterial infection. It would then be a good idea to get antibiotics prescribed to get treated.

I am also worried that he is getting dehydrated. Please get him to drink as much water/gatorade as possible to fight off the dehydration.

I hope I have answered your question. Please post a follow up if you have more questions. WIsh your boyfriend a quick recovery.

Brief Answer:
Cannot send prescription

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for the follow up.

I will not be able to send a prescription because I have not examined the patient and do not know what bacterial infection he has exactly. It will be very dangerous to send a prescription.

I hope you understand.
