Question: Hi Doc. I have been diagnosed with a severe fungal infection over 60% of my body. It's very itchy and burns constantly. I'm taking 250mg of lamisil once a day along with creams.
My question is would it be better to take a cold or hot shower? Or even start out extremely hot then switch to cold?

Brief Answer:
cold showers.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

In a fungal infection of the skin ,there is skin inflammation.A hot shower increases the blood circulation in skin ,making the inflammation worse and the symptoms of itching and burning worse.
Cold compresses and a cold shower can decrease the inflammation and ease the symptoms.
I would suggest to take cold showers instead of hot ones.

Hope it helps.
Let me know if you have any other question or doubts to clarify.I would be happy to help.

Brief Answer:
detailed below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,

You are already taking the adequate treatment :Oral antifungals associated with topical antifungal .
There is nothing else to add ,just give it the time needed to treat the infection.

Because the fungus prefers warm ,moist environment , you should wear loose-fitting clothing made of cotton or synthetic materials and after showering, dry off completely.

Take care.
