Suggest Treatment For Severe Gum Soreness After Root Canal Treatment

default
Posted on Thu, 3 Nov 2016
Question: Hi! Today i went to the dentist to have a crown placed on a tooth where i had a root canal. Ive had a crown there prior that broke off when i was eating chips. I had a temporary crown installed and then they put the permanent one in. My dentist had to try it on a few times and it was a constant on and off that my tooth or gum became really sore. It was tight at first but he loosened it up. He even fixed the bite quite a few times. After the procedure i was sore and uncomfortable which i still feel a few hours later. I dont recall experiencing this in the past for a crown (the first time) i got one (the one that broke) is this discomfort common?
Thank you!!

Brief Answer:
Soreness can be due to gum injury..

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome to HEALTH CARE MAGIC..

As per your query, soreness of the gums after a few hours can be due to trauma or injury to the gums during repeated trials to fix the crown appropriately over the tooth.

Another cause can be deeper sharp margins of the crown that might be impinging over the gums and causing soreness..

But as it is just a few hours you need to wait for another 2-3 days..
In case if the soreness does not reduce or if further becomes progressively sore and painful, please consult with your Dentist and get the crown re-checked..

Please write back for further queries..

Hope this information helps..

Regards..
