Suggest Treatment For Severe Hair Fall, Acne And Weight Gain

Question: My daughter,22yrs old has gained a lot of weight (90kl)over the past few tears, she has hair fall, severe acne and some hair on chin, what is the reason?
Your description sounds like she may have an endocrine problem - a problem with the balance of hormones.
Causes include problems with the ovaries, adrenal glands and certain medications. She should see an endocrinologist to do blood tests for levels of different hormones.

What are the harmones that need to be tested?
Brief Answer:
It could be PCOS Or secondary causes
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM. I have gone through the question and understand your concerns.
If she is having weight gain, menstrual irregularities, acne and hair growth in chin - the cause could be poly cystic ovaries or secondary causes like Cushing's syndrome, metabolic syndrome, hypothyroidism etc.
The usual investigations that we do are:
1. LH, FSH, Testosterone
2. Prolactin
3. 17 hydroxy progesterone, DHEAS
4. Testosterone
5. Cortsol suppression test - Overnight dexamethasone test
6. Fasting blood sugar, HbA1c, cholesterol
7. SGOT, SGPT
8. Thyroid function tests
These tests are usually done in the first week of menstrual cycle.
Hope I have answered your questions. If you have any further queries I will be happy to help you
