Suggest Treatment For Severe Hair Fall And Dandruff Problem

I am a 28 year old male and have been suffering from hair fall since the last 6 months.
Thougj there are not any major patches on my head , the count of hairfall scares me. It ranges from 50-120 on a few occassions. Major hair fall is when i comb or oil my hair or when i just XXXXXXX my heair in the downward direction. About 30-40 hairs fall out.
A dermatologist recently suggested it is not male pattern baldness as hair is not recesing from the front but under lights , scalp is visible. He suggested grocapix gel and multi vitamins along with elution shampoo.
Kindly advise next steps as hair fall does not seem to stop inspite of using them for a month now.
Dandruff comes on alternative days and shampoo is done alternate days
Need to consider other causes
Detailed Answer:
Dear,
Welcome to HCM
From the information provided by you above, I could understand that you are male concerned about hair loss that is not of male patterned as adviced by your doctor.
The amount o hair fall you happen to mention here is normal.
If male pattern baldness is ruled out we need to consider and investigate for other causes of baldness like endocrinological problems such as thyroid problems, vitamin deficiencies, hair infections, etc
My further advice you would be
1) look out for any signs and symptoms of heavy dandruff, Itiching, discharge from scalp.
2) problems of dry skin, weight gain, fatigue etc
3) I would suggest screeing for vit 12, haemoglobin investigation.
The apne mention test can gives us idea regarding presence of infection of scalp, thyroid problem, nutritional deficiencies.
In a meanwhile you can continue with the medication prescribed by your treating doctor, and remember that it generally takes prolonged duration for the effect to be seen.
You can have vitamin b12 supplements, vitamin A supplements, adequate protein intake in diet.
Vitamin A should be taken on advice of doctor as it can be toxic.
Anti dandruff ailments can be used to overcome dandruff.
A second opinion from a different dermatologist can be indicated.
Local tricologist can be approached for better judgement.
Welcome with more information and for further suggestions
