Brief Answer:
Minoxidil is known to aggravate hair loss whenever you stop applying it.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Perhaps the person who had suggested you to use Minoxidil, had not mentioned that unless you can religiously commit to applying minoxidil for the rest of your life, whenever you discontinue it, the hairloss would increase manifold. This is exactly what you are facing at the moment. I would not suggest you to go back to minoxidil. I would insist you not to panic. Apply ketoconazole shampoo (available in brands like Nizoral or ones containing ZPTO) twice or thrice weekly. It should take care of any fungal cause behind the hair fall. Other than that, I would not suggest any medication. You would have to accept the hair loss but I guess it would soon be ok.

So , If I continue using Minoxidil 5% again forever then will it improve mine situation as I don't want to go bald atleast in my twenties ?
Secondly , I usually wash mine hair only 2 times a week , So the scalp gets a bit oily and more hair falls , Is it has anything to do with hairfall , Will washing hair frequently(daily) help me ?

As you recommended I bought Nizral (Ketoconazle IP 2% solution), How much of these solution do I need to apply at once ? or is it like a normal shampoo and can you tell me period of time till i need to apply these ( like 3 months or a year )

Apart from above can you tell me the normal routine shampoo which i should apply daily ?

Brief Answer:
I would not advise going back to Minoxidil.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.

I would not advise you to keep applying Minoxidil for life. It might reduce your hairfall but if you have a genetic propensity of hair loss or baldness, you would lose hair anyway and Minoxidil is not really going to help in the long run. But I think that you need not panic. Going through the attached image, the condition did not look too bad.

The oiliness fo the scalp predisposes you to fungal infection what we call seborrhoeic dermatitis or dandruff. It is a leading cause of hairloss. I would suggest you to wash your hair everyday, if feasible, and to apply shampoo twice or thrice a week. Make Nizoral your shampoo. It will keep these fungal infections at bay and would thereby bring your hairloss in control. Use it just as you use your regular shampoo but let it remain on your scalp for a few minutes before washing it off. Use it for a few months and then gradually shift to some regular shampoo. After that you can use it once in a while or if the problem recurrs. About the regular shampoo, any standard shampoo should be fine but I do not think that you would need one over the next few months.

Hope that helps.

Sir ,
I applied nizoral 2% shampoo, 2 times till now as per your recommendation but hair fall while apllication of nizoral was around 40 hair compared to around 20 hair when applying normal shampoo. But after the hair went dry their wasn't any hairfall during nizoral usage compared to around 20 hair incase of normal shampoo. So, I am benefitted after hair went dry by Nizoral ! but hair is falling during the peroid of application of nizoral shampoo but it wasn't the case when hair was simply wet .
So , Is increase in hairfall during application of nizoral common during first few uses ?
Also you asked me to use Nizoral at XXXXXXX 3 times in a week , so can I apply normal shampoo in other days as mine scalp really get oily if not washed with shampoo for 2 days or should I simply wash hair with water only.

On conclusion I totally accept the fact that I have a lot of dandruff in mine hair as I could see it but do you think I have genetic hairfall considering the fact that none in mine family(also considering paternal and maternal grandfather and mother) are bald.

In the end I would like to Thank you for looking into mine issue seriously and helping me.

Brief Answer:
If you have dandruff, Nizoral would give you relief from problems.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.

Let me assure you that the human hair is in a state of constant turnover and it is absolutely normal for about a 100 hairs to fall everyday. So, 20 or 40 hairs falling does not even count as hairfall. Continue Nizoral without any worries. In any case, do not expect results instantaneously.
You can use shampoo on other days. I did not say that thrice is the maximum time that you can apply Nizoral per week. I just said that two or three times per week is reasonable.

In case you found my answer helpful, I would request you to close the thread with a positive review and a 5 star rating.
