Suggest Treatment For Severe Headache

default
Posted on Sat, 1 Apr 2017
Question: I have had a moderate, sometimes severe headache constantly for a little over 5 days. The pain is in the back of my head and gets very bad when I bend over or turn my head to the right. My wife has been monitoring my blood pressure and it is higher than normal, but not too high. I do not have a PCP, and have tried to get an apt but have been unable to find one. Is this something worth going to urgent care for?

Brief Answer:
No most likely its cervical pain.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for asking query,
I am Dr Rishu cardiologist and will be answering your query.
Occipital headache associated with Head moments is suggestive of Cervical spondylosis. It is a condition in which nerve is compressed in between your cervical spines causing pain headache etc.
Its not an emergency condition however you should get a MRI spine and done to rule out the cause.
Physiotherapy and medication would be started as per the diagnosis only.
However to be on safe side its always advisable to consult doctor as early as possible.

Suggestion:
Restrict neck moments till MRI is done.
Don't use cushions.
Sleep on hard surface.
Stop ibuprofen take Aceclofenac instead.

Thanks
