Question : I have diarrhea several times a day. Usually 3-4 times before I can leave the house in the morning. I also have pain in my upper right quadrant. Everything I eat usually passes through me within 20 minutes after I eat it. I have had a CT scan of my gall bladder, abdomen, pelvis, ovaries and appendix, and I have had an ultra sound of my abdomen. I was taken Omeprazole and it helped for a while. I do not know what is wrong with me except most things I eat give me horrible heartburn and constant diarrhea. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
IBS- GERD; infective focus to be ruled out, hence further investigations.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for your query.

To recapitulate: Female/62 - most of the things you eat give your horrible heartburn and constant diarrhea - diarrhea several times a day - 3 to 4 times before you leave house in the morning - pain in right upper quadrant - CT and ultrasound of abdomen done - Omeprazole helped for a while - tried diet change, gaviscon water and exercises...

The commonest causes are:
IBS meaning irritable bowel syndrome
Intestinal inflammation with GERD meaning gastroesophageal reflux disease.

I would suggest you the following:
Also go for routine and microscopy tests of blood, urine and stool.
Upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy.

If all the tests are near normal the most probable cause can be IBS with GERD.
Get a proper treatment.

Control of stress and anxiety.
Make a list of foods and beverages that instigate or enhance the problems. And stop them altogether.

Additional medicines like Domperidone for heartburn, continue Gaviscon or other antacid gels every three hours.

Change of the situation/job/or at least a long vacation may help a lot.

I have tried to answer and analyze the problem as per the history your have provided, considering that you ave not mentioned any positive finding for CT scan and Ultrasound, I take them as normal.

I hope this answer helps you to get an early and proper diagnosis and treatment.

Please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
