Question : I have been experiencing severe itching and burning in my genital/anal area for about a week, and have used several vaginal and hemorrhoid creams - all to little effect. It gets so bad sometimes until I scratch myself until I bleed. What would you suggest I do next?

This might be caused by an infection!

HI and thanks for this query.

I will suggest a short course of antibiotics. Take 2g of Tinidazole and a tablet of Fluconazole 200mg. This should address most common vaginal infections. If this fails to address your problem, at that time i will recommend more testing and comprehensive evaluation by an OBGYN.
