Brief Answer:
itching usually at night, positive family history & rash on specific sites

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic,

In scabies patients complain of severe itching usually at night along with bumps on the finger web spaces, sides of fingers, wrists, axilla, chest, abdomen, buttocks and thighs along with genitals in males.

In fact, presence of bumps on the male genital organs is considered characteristic of scabies.
Moreover one or more members in the family have similar complaints.

Usually also after using permethrin itching in scabies takes 3-4 weeks to resolve as it is due to hypersensitivity reaction and takes time to settle and 2 courses of Permethrin 5 percent 1 week apart are required to be effective.

You need to continue with the antihistaminic i.e. tablet Cetirizine 10 mg twice daily and apply Cortisone cream on the itchy areas for another 2-3 weeks.
