Suggest Treatment For Severe Jock Itch

default
Posted on Thu, 30 Jun 2016
Question: My husband has a very bad case of jock itch. He has tried most of the over the counter meds, but nothing seems to work. He has had this before and had to go to Doctor after it lasted so long. I don't think he really follows the directions or quit before it's truly gone. Any suggestions will help me, so he understands what he HAS to do.

Brief Answer:
Oral and topical antifungals

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
welcome to HCM.
Jock itch or Tinea cruris is a fungal skin infection. These days fungal infections are becoming very difficult to treat because of rising resistance in fungal organisms.
I would suggest to give a proper course of good antifungal drug like Itraconazole 400mg a day for 7-10 days.
Additionally apply a mixture of antifungal cream like Sertaconazole and Whitfield ointment twice a day over affected areas.
keep the groin area dry by sprinkling a sertaconazole or clotrimazole based dusting powder 2-3 times a day.
Take antihistaminics as required to relieve the itching.
Maintain hygiene.
Avoid tight underwear and use boxers and iron them before using.
Hope the information was useful.
let me know if you need any other help from me.
Take care
