Question: I am a type 1 diabetic, over the past year, I have had 2 tick borne infections (erlychiosis and bebeosia). I have not been able to get my a1c down - not my ALT is up to 32. The only way to get normal bs readings is to be on antibiotics. This week I am suffering from severe joint pain, low grade fever, headache and fatigue. Any suggestions that I might bring forward to my primary care? I started with severe pain in my neck, knees and wrists

Brief Answer:
You need to take care of infection for blood sugar control

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case. I can tell you that unless your infection is completely treated your blood sugar is not going to stabilise. If you are still having fever then it means that there is still infection in blood. Antibiotic tackle it for some time but unless infection is completely cured you will not be normal with sugars.
So suggest you to get blood culture and find out infective focus in your blood. Then according you need to get treatment.
I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
Thanks
