Question: Need knee replacement but health is poor and orthoepedic Dr. won^t do it.

Can I take 5mg prednsone daily for knee pain. I have before for flare up knee severe pain with good results.

I am out of options as they will not give opiods.

Brief Answer:
Orally not helpful.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have read your query.

First of all upload your xray if you can, I want to see present condition of your knee joint.

If I am your treating doctor I would never allow you to have prednisone tablet as these will not help you.

Instead I will check your fasting blood sugar and then inject steroid in your joint once a month for three months.

Other options are also available like intra articular hyaluronic acid.

Do stretching exercise.

Avoid squatting and upstairs as much as you can.

Visit a reputed physiotherapy centre for diathermy.

Although you are tsling medication but I want you to take tab.aceclofenac100mg+thiocolchicoside4mg twice a day ( by prescription of your doctor as this is not over the counter).

You can discuss this with your doctor.

I hope you got the answer.

Thanks,
