Question: Hello Doctor

I have been suffering from severe laryngitis two weeks back and also cold and cough. I took medicines and antibiotics as prescribed by doctor. its been two weeks and it recovered 50% only. Also I have still little bit of dry cough. My throat gets dried very quickly and so I drink plenty of water. I can speak without hoarse for.few minutes and after that hoarseness comes back. When will I become normal.

Am taking Limcee and then benzoin tincture with hot water steam.

Brief Answer:
Acute laryngitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare Magic and thanks for putting up the query
Acute laryngitis may take up to a month to recover completely. As you said you can speak normal for sometime means there is inflammation and probably no mass is there but an endoscopic examination of the larynx should be done to make sure.
Dry cough is due to inflammation of cords. Oral steroids and anti inflammatory drugs be prescribed alongwith other medicines.
You should take steam inhalation 2 to 3 times and take a complete voice rest. Steam will help to moisten the cords.
No smoking.
Any further questions are always welcome.
Take care
Thanks and regards

Thanks a lot doctor for the response. Should I go for any other test to identify the underlying issues. Dry cough becomes more in night and if I talk for 5 min or more I get throat pain and then headache. Am really worried if it any big underlying problem. Should I go for any blood test or any other test. Voice rest means not talking even a single word. Thanks a lot doctor for your responses and help.
Also should I continue with benzoin tincture inhalation from mouth or Karvol plus for inhalation. Am worried lot doctor.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the follow up query.
You should get an endoscopic examination of the larynx done to rule out any pathology. no other investigations is required before this.
Voice rest is no talking at all.
You should take steam inhalation with plain water.
Take a combination of diclofenac and serratiipeptidase twice daily.
All the medicines I have prescribed will be available at prescription only.
Please follow up with the laryngoscopy report.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Take care
Thanks and regards
