Suggest Treatment For Severe Leg Cramps And Persistent Cough

default
Posted on Mon, 13 Feb 2017
Question: I have been coughing severly for over two weeks. My whole body hurts, I have a lump that gets very large (as big as a golf ball, then back to a pea) in my right neck area, around where the lymph node is. I am very dizzy much of the time, and I have also had severe leg cramps in my left leg, which I have taken Leg Cramps medicine for. It has relieved the pain, but there is still a soreness on the bottom of my left foot. My doctor called in a Rx yesterday for a Z-pak of Azithromycin 250 mg. I'm still coughing excessively, still have the lump. Should I be concerned? My doctor has not physically seen me yet. I seem to be getting worse, instead of better. I am very weak, stiff neck, dizzy, incessant coughing... Not hungry, so losing weight.

Brief Answer:
Your case should be immediately evaluated by your doctor;pneumonia suspect

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

I am sorry for the health situation you are going through.

From what you are describing, as you have been severely coughing for 2 weeks now, with whole body hurting, and with a lump in your right neck area and having severe leg cramps in your left leg.

To me, it sounds that you got pneumonia. Azythromycin will help with the infection including pneumonia, but I think your case is more severe than it seems.
An immediate physical examination is required. If you cannot manage to see your doctor, should go to ER as soon as possible.

Your symptoms of leg cramps are indicating possible dehydration and electrolytes imbalance. Immediate fluid and electrolytes replacement therapy is required; I'd recommend intravenous replacement therapy at first.

Magnesium and calcium and vit.B supplements are recommended.

Apart Azythromycin, other antibiotic choices should be considered.
Take coughing medications:
- mucolytics to dissolve mucus and clear up the respiratory pathways
- anti-histaminics and/or salbutamol to ease the breathing
- aerosol therapy /netty pots

Hope this helps. Wish fast recovery.
