default
Posted on Tue, 9 Feb 2016
Question: I am experiencing moderate to severe leg pains(both) with it worse in the mornings. I have been diagnosed with spinal stenosis and recently underwent spinal injections which haven't help much if any. I have back problems but am wondering if it could be circulation or some kind of nerve related problem. My legs ache a little and just feel tired all the time.

Brief Answer:
Get investigated as advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Pain and heaviness in lower limbs may be due to neuropathy or secondary to lumbar canal stenosis.
Neuropathic pain is usually associated with sensory loss, weakness, skin changes. However to make sure we don't miss neuropathy or other causes, I would order for blood sugar, liver function test, renal function test, vitamin B 12, vitamin D 3 and Nerve conduction study besides checking your peripheral pulses. This might help us isolating the cause.

Lumbar canal stenosis require surgical intervention if drugs are not benefiting.

I will suggest you get the aforementioned examination and neurologist done by a neurologist.

If you have MRI reports or images, upload it here.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

I forgot to mention that the pain/ache in my legs almost completely goes away when I sit down or lay down. Does that suggest that it is spinal stenosis or more neurological in nature?

I also forgot to mention that the pain started shortly after starting stations. I immediately stopped taking them but the pain hasn't subsided. I read a lot about stations causing pain. Do you think that could be a factor?
