Question : My son-in-law is a type 1 diabetic and I need help in determining the danger signs. He is extremely lethargic and has been in bed all day -- very unusual for him. He has a pump and is using it but is not responding as usual. He has eaven very little all day and says he is OK but his behaviour is not normal. Can you give me any information as to what to look for?
Brief Answer:
check the blood sugar at the earliest
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I appreciate your concern regarding to your son in law.
You have to check the blood sugar, if it is within the normal ranges the pump is working and probably another cause should be tried to find out.
If the blood sugar results high you need to check the ketones in urine, if they are positive you need medical help.
Hope the information will be helpful. Please let me know if you've any further queries.
Kind Regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
