Question : I have pain that seems to be getting worse or stronger, it is on my lower left stomach, radiating to the lower left back. I recently had hip replacement surgery on the left side, but I don't think it is coming from there.
I had both ovaries removed, can't remember the name of the surgery. I am 75 years old.

Brief Answer:
Could be due to GERD. Clinical examination needed.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone very carefully through your query. Your problem seems to be due to gastritis or gastroesophageal reflux. However, a clinical examination is essential to discern the cause. I would advise you to visit a doctor and to get yourself evaluated.

In order to relieve yourself, you need to do the following:
* Avoid spicy food. Take small but frequent meals. Avoid long gaps between meals.
* Avoid alcohol intake (if it a part of your habit).
* Take Prilosec (omeprazole) once daily before breakfast. Take some liquid antacid to relieve the pain.
* Take plenty of green leafy vegetables as well as other sources of dietary fibers. Take fiber supplements like isabgol/psyllium husk or senna. I would insist you to increase your dietary fibre intake.
* Regular morning walk and exercise to keep the bowel movements proper.
* Take curd or yogurt on daily basis. It contains beneficial bacteria and should help.

The name of the surgery probably was hysteroovosalpingectomy or simply hysterectomy.

Hope that helps.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
