Question : Need help controlling hip/ lower back pain. I am 76 years old, fell last Saturday, September 3. 3 trips to the ER, two sets of extras....even a CT scan, but I am still in horrible pain when I try to sleep. 5 percent lidocaine patches last 18 hours, but only minimal every temporary relief. ANY SUGGESTIONS? YYYY@YYYY

The pain in the lower back and hip is likely to be a muscle pain. In addition to the pain killers you need an oral muscle relaxant like chlorzoxazone and regular hot compress for relief. You can also apply local analgesic gel to the affected area.
