Question: hi, I have been suffering from hyperventilation almost everyday that starts around noon till night. A doctor in my city advised to take deanxite which worked perfectly. After I left medications the attacks are back again with severe migrain tension headache. I have learnt that deanxite is banned in several countries. what alternative safe medication would you suggest. Please note that in XXXXXXX we don't have proper psychtrists that i can rely on.

Thank you XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Flupentixole and Melitracen

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM

As you have responded to Deanxit most likely the problem was due to anxiety only. The symptoms of hyperventilation are common in anxiety. The problem of headache and hyperventilation has developed back.

Alternative to Deanxit for SOS basis can be low dose benzodiazepines like Etizolam or Oxazepam. Both these are relatively less sedating benzodiazepines and will help in relieving the symptoms of anxiety effectively. They have good potency but slight abuse potential is there.

Other drug like Propranolol can also be used in such anxiety and which will also give prophylaxis for Migraine. Propranolol in 10-40 mg per day help in decreasing the symptoms of anxiety, reduce palpitations, sweating and is very effective drug. The drug is easily available and is safe to use. The drug is also free of abuse potential.

Consult your psychiatrist/doctor for detailed prescription of any of these drugs.

Thanks
