Suggest Treatment For Severe Nausea And Abdominal Pain

Clinical evaluation and Ultrasound
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Male/52 - Doctor says Diastasis Recti - and there is nothing that can be done - complaints of severe nausea and pain in abdominal wall - does not feel like it is deep inside - large bulge down the middle of abdomen on lifting something heavy or on certain exercises while lying down ...
You have two different problems:
1. Diastasis recti: this is practically a painless disorder, occurs with age as the exercises of all sorts are reduced and hence the fibrous tissues that hold together the recti muscles becomes weak and flatter to give this appearance.
The exercises of the abdominal wall can regain the strength - but you can do this only on the diagnosis and treatment of the nausea and pain that you are getting...
2. Severe nausea and pain in the abdominal wall: not seen or heard of this occurring due to diastasis recti. Means there has to be a reason.
The most probable reason is inflammation or hematoma formation in the muscles of the abdominal wall. Or can be due to hernia obstruction, which in your case can be small, not easily palpable hence missing on.
This can be diagnosed by the following:
- Clinical examination by a General Surgeon, carefully palpating the abdominal wall in relaxed and in taught position, during coughing and so on.
- High resolution ultrasound for the abdominal wall and the whole abdomen proper.
- CT scan or MRI helps more if needed.
This is how the diagnosis can be made and treated properly.
I hope this answer helps you to get a proper and early diagnosis and treatment.
