Suggest Treatment For Severe Nausea And Vomiting Along With Stomach Pain

default
Posted on Mon, 24 Aug 2015
Question: For 2 months I have had severe stomach pain, like something is eating the inside of my stomach and colon. At the beginning I also had nausea, vomiting and dry heaves. the first 2 weeks I had non epileptic seizures after the pain became unbearable. I was in the hospital twice and xrays and cat scans didn't show anything. I still can't stay up for more than 30 minutes and I am exhausted all the time. this all started 1 day after I got back from vacation in the Tennessee mountains and drank well water for 4 days. the drs. are saying it may be in my head but the woman who was traveling with me had the same thing just slightly less severe.

Brief Answer:
Non epileptic seizures are linked to emotional stress

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

Non epileptic seizures are mainly due to emotional stressors and are also termed as psychogenic seizures. The stomach and colon discomfort/pain can also be related to such a psychological stress especially in the absence of any organic cause. Based on whether the symptoms are predominantly upper or lower G.I , endoscopy can be offered. Blood counts and stool for occult blood and routine examination should be done, in consultation with your doctor to look for anemia and it possible cause. The anemia can be related to the exhaustion that you mentioned. Its unlikely that well water was responsible for similar outcomes with the woman you described unless the water was contaminated. Your doctor may advise a psychiatric consultation to look for anxiety or depression associated with these symptoms that you experience. Treatment can be initiated including behavioral cognitive and psychotherapy, in view of the findings.

Wishing you best of health
