Brief Answer:
Constipation and diverticular disease might be related

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for asking at HCM.

I carefully read your question and understand your concern.

Constipation and diverticular disease are generally related.
As for colonitis is probably what we call colitis.

As long as you do not have any blood with stools and no fever I would recommend you:
1. take fiber in diet. it will help with constipation and diverticular disease. This means plenty of fruit and vegetable.
2. add psillium which is extra fiber daily for better effect
3. drink plenty
4. be active as much as you can
5. avoid fast food and junk food
6. lactulose syrup might be added if still there is constipation.
7. try to regularly have a bowel movement.
8. do not use other medications for constipation without prescription as some of them might cause dependence.
9. routine colonoscopy is recommended from 50-75 year old to be done every 10 years. if you did not have a recent one, you might need one.

I hope this answers to your question and is helpful to you.

Kind regards

Dr Antoneta Zotaj
